Claire de Lune - Debussy E-mail

Claire de Lune - Debussy, played by Jeff Pollack.

Claire de Lune (French for "moonlight"), in D-flat major, the third of four movements from "Suite bergamasque" by Claude Debussy published in 1903. This is a fairly liberal interpretation of the above, played by Jeff Pollack and recorded live from San Antonio, February 2009.

Nocturne in C-sharp minor (posthumous) - Chopin E-mail

Nocturne in C-sharp minor (posthumous) - Chopin, played by Jeff Pollack.

This composition, never called a "Nocturne" by Chopin, was probably written in 1830 when he was 20 for his older sister Louise. Conflicting documents claim that it was published in 1875 or 1895. This piece is interesting not only for itself, but because it was one of Chopin's first attempts to write the kind of composition for which he afterward became famous (Francis L. York). This piece is featured and played twice (both incomplete) in the Roman Polanski film, The Pianist (Wikipedia).

I like this piece - it is in my favorite key (C-sharp minor), and begs to be played with emotion - "Lento con gran espressione."
